Here's how we keep ITW sustainable

We are committed to making our events as sustainable as we can. Where possible, we choose venues that are accessible by public transport, use renewable energy in their event spaces, have water-saving initiatives in place, reduce waste going to landfill and donate any left-over food to charities.

We also support the reduction of paper used at our events through digital products and eliminate single-use plastic wherever we can. We encourage everyone to bring reusable beverage containers where possible.

How is the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center keeping sustainability at the forefront?

Marriott International, Inc. aspires to be the global leader that demonstrates how responsible hospitality management can be a positive force for the environment and create economic opportunities around the world in the communities where we work and live.

Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center continues to take steps towards a green environment for our planet. The resort actively participates in ways to reduce electrical usage, food waste, promote recycling and support the overall ecosystem. With a CHP (Combined Heat and Power) system that produces approximately 90% of the electricity used on-site, the resort is able to reduce its waste heat and take the pressure off of an already strained electrical grid. This action aids in reducing the need for additional power plants. It also began a rooftop honeybee program in 2017 to support bee health and harvest honey for its culinary offerings.

The resort also maintains a rooftop honeybee program, established in 2017, which supports local bee health and harvests honey for its culinary offerings. Around the venue, you will find:

  • 100% Recycled Note Pads
  • Pens made from Recycled Materials
  • Eco-Friendly Water Service
  • Meeting Room Recycling
  • On-Line Event Menus
  • Organic Meals (Upon Request)
  • Paper straws
  • America’s Second Harvest Support

How is our official stand contractor, Shepard, keeping sustainability at the forefront?

Our sustainability pledge

Following the best available science on the impacts of climate change, we acknowledge the urgent need to accelerate the transition towards global net zero emissions. The events industry must play its part in delivering the goals of the Paris Agreement and ensuring a just transition.

Recognising that the events industry is comprised of a complex and fragmented mix of stakeholders, we acknowledge that while individual organisations take specific actions to minimise their carbon impact, a system-wide approach is required to drive meaningful progress.

In this context, we commit to supporting the goal of net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050, in line with the Paris Agreement to limit warming to 1.5°C. We aim to support the reduction of total global GHG emissions by 50% by 2030 and will actively advocate for industry efforts throughout the value chain.
