ITW exclusive: Rolf Nafziger changes role at Deutsche Telekom

 

 

 

Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier has announced at ITW 2024 that 24-year veteran Rolf Nafziger will step away from his current role overseeing its global wholesale unit to take up a new role as executive advisor within the strategy consulting department.

Nafziger will commence his new role as of 1st June 2024. Deutsche Telekom described him as “an integral member of Deutsche Telekom” since joining the business in 2000.

ITW Exclusive: Cape, IT&E Guam partner to provide secure communication to US Navy

 

Privacy-first mobile carrier Cape unveiled a partnership with IT&E Guam, the largest provider of mobile technology in Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Under the partnership, the two firms will provide deeper telecom security, privacy, and resilience to US government personnel in Guam.

Customers in Guam will be able to leverage Cape's cloudbased secure network via IT&E's physical RAN, laying the groundwork for secure communications and enhanced protection of warfighters, military contractors, their families, and other citizens on Guam.

ITW exclusive: Digital Realty unveils liquid to chip cooling tech

 

 

Digital Realty announced the availability of new liquid-to-chip cooling technology at ITW 2024.

The new offering from Digital Realty builds upon the company’s standardised high-density colocation offering by introducing direct liquid cooling (DLC). This brings liquid directly to customers' infrastructure.

This approach enables businesses to deploy high-density configurations within a shared environment, in close proximity to the cloud, network and AI service providers.

Digital Realty also said it allows its customers the flexibility to accommodate the distinct needs of individual setups.

ITW 2024: BW Digital and Telin sign MOU to build subsea cable

 

 

 

BW Digital and PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the joint development and construction of the Hawaiki Nui 1 submarine cable system.

Hawaiki Nui 1 is the first stage of BW Digital’s submarine cable development programme.

With a design capacity of more than 240 Tbps, it will link Australia, Indonesia and Singapore, and include optional branches to the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste.

The cable is estimated to span 10,000km, and will create a new route northeast of Australia via the Torres Strait.

Lightstorm is integrating its network as a service (NaaS) platform, Polarin, with the Console Connect’s NaaS platform via API orchestration.

The collaboration facilitates easy connectivity to a vast array of data centres, and IT resources worldwide.

Through a network interconnection in Singapore, the integrated global network fabric interconnects data centres across India, Indonesia, US, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Australia and other emerging and developed markets, offering enterprises secure, ondemand connectivity through a unified platform.

SmartCIC Technologies, a subsidiary of SmartCIC Global Services, has inaugurated an innovation hub in Barcelona to enhance its development of cellular performance and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.

The move, which is to be announced at this years ITW event in Washington is aimed at creating a collaborative space for researchers, innovators, and creators to develop cutting-edge solutions.

The new hub is a significant milestone for SmartCIC Technologies, having expanded its team by 106%, and the new facility will serve as a catalyst for further development in both hardware and software-based solutions.

ITW exclusive: RETN expands connectivity to Manchester

 

 

At ITW 2024, RETN announced it has expanded connectivity in Manchester, connecting to two data centres in the UK city.

RETN’s expansion, it says, will help bring lightning-fast, secure, and high-availability internet to ISPs and enterprises in the city.

The expansion into Manchester follows a series of investments in RETN’s international backbone across Europe.

RETN's connectivity ring will link Manchester with existing networks across the UK and to mainland Europe via the Paris Crosslake subsea cable, a low-latency route opened recently.

LARUS has launched a new platform to make the buying and selling of IP addresses easy, fast and transparent.

The new service, found at Larus.net, transforms how both sellers and buyers of IP addresses transact, making the whole process seamless and simple.

Data centre operator Flexential announced at ITW 2024 an expansion of its FlexAnywhere Platform with plans to develop its fifth data centre and colocation facility in the Denver area.

By expanding its data center footprint in the region, Flexential aims to meet surging demand for data center inventory and connectivity across Denver, Colorado.

The new facility offers high-density colocation in a structure purpose-built to meet current sustainability and efficiency requirements.

CMC Networks is to announce the launch of CMC Marketplace at ITW 2024, which it claims is the most expansive service catalogue in the wholesale market for African and Middle Eastern carriers.

The platform aims to simplify on-demand connectivity pricing, automation and service procurement in Africa and the Middle East.

Businesses operating in, or looking to enter the wholesale market in these regions will have access to pricing at over 10 million locations across 60 countries.

CMC Marketplace is an on-demand service catalogue that provides businesses with automated pricing and procurement for a wide range of network services.

ITW exclusive: Orchest Technologies provides 80 million more reasons to join Connectbase

 

Connectbase exclusively announced at ITW that a partnership with Orchest Technologies will provide automated reach to over 80 million locations across Latin America and the Caribbean for buyers and channel partners using the Connectbase platform.

Latin American operator Orchest Technologies, will join Connectbase’s Connected World Platform, a platform for network buyers and sellers that has over 300 users and over 2.7 billion locations profiled and managed on the platform.

Orchest Technologies will significantly enhance the Latin America expansion of The Connected World ecosystem by adding 80 million on-net buildings across 33 countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean that can be quoted and ordered through Orchest.

MTN GlobalConnect rebrands as Bayobab at ITW 2023

In May last year, MTN GlobalConnect chose ITW 2023 as the place to announce an important step in the evolution of its business - the unveiling of its new name and positioning as Bayobab.

Inspired by the Baobab tree – which many recognise as the “tree of life”, Bayobab is the enabler of the digital connectivity value chain across the African continent. The rebrand is the first step in the business transformation journey since announcing MTN Group’s Ambition 2025 strategy to structurally separate its fibre business, targeted for completion by 2024.

The new identity, Bayobab, represents the company’s strategic transformation journey to connect Africa with open next-gen digital solutions through its two distinct businesses, Bayobab Fibre and Bayobab Communication Platforms.

Windstream Wholesale uses ITW to boost its 400G campaign

Windstream Wholesale is driving the latest stage of its campaign to launch its next generation of 400G technologies and pluggable devices - and ITW 2023 was a huge help in these promotion efforts.

Having first gone to market with 400G services in 2020, Windstream Wholesale's participation at various ITWs over the years has played a vital role in understanding customer requirements, taking the pulse of the market, and planning campaigns based on this information.

"We are kicking off our 400G campaign (at ITW 2023), which is a lot of talk in the industry," sad Joe Scattareggia, Windstream Wholesale's President. "This is a critical part of us understanding what the customers want, and we factor that into building our business plan and spending capital."

"ITW is the Superbowl of all conferences."

Zain + Omantel = ZOI

And ZOI + ITW = a big, effective announcement that the whole industry heard about!

After teasing the news at Capacity Middle East, Zain Group and Omantel chose ITW 2023 to launch ZOI, a joint venture to offer international wholesale services to customers worldwide.

Zain Omantel International (ZOI), as the joint entity is called, caters to the end-to-end telecommunications needs of operators in the Middle East, as well as international carriers, data centres, hyperscalers, as well as content and cloud providers seeking services within the region and beyond.

ZOI's CEO Sohail Qadir took some time out of his schedule to chat to Capacity's Saf Malik about the launch and what it means for the market - watch that here.
