Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy at the U.S. Department of State
Anjana Modi is the Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy at the U.S. Department of State. Prior to this, she served in the Bureau of Economic, Energy and Business Affairs as the Senior Advisor to the Department’s (PDO) Sanctions Coordinator and DAS for Counter Threat Financing and Sanctions. In Washington, Anjana has held assignments in Policy Planning, the National Security Council, the Board of Examiners, and the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. A career member of the U.S. Foreign Service, Anjana has also served at embassies and consulates in China, India, Thailand, Jordan and the United Kingdom. Anjana grew up near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and she has family in North Carolina and Maryland. She holds a bachelor’s degree in international affairs from The George Washington University and master’s degrees from the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island and Sciences Po in Paris, France.
