Keynote Panel: Quarter century subsea systems - retirement ready or new lease of life?

06 May 2025
Keynote Stage
Keynotes Connectivity Infrastructure

As systems age, and cable maintenance costs increase, there is a trend towards shorter lifespans and more new cables. However, there is ongoing debate on what 'end of life' really means as the old 25-year rule continues to bend. Join those involved with some of the first major cables that are now approaching or at end of life for their take on where we go next:

  • Beyond the typical commercial life of a system, how long can global connectivity rely on aging cables?

  • What is the current state of some of the legacy submarine infrastructure?

  • How long can upgrades continue to extend the utility of old systems as we approach the Shannon Limit?
