Sandwiched between the districts of Downtown and Buckhead is Midtown, home to the best bars, clubs, and live venues in Atlanta. Better still, it’s just a stone’s throw from where you’ll be staying for ITW 2019.
There are tonnes of places to check out: the Woodruff Art Center, a world-renowned performing arts theatre; the famous Opera Nightclub, which is all opulent chandeliers and gorgeous balconies, and known for attracting the cream of international DJs and performers (including his purple highness himself, Prince).
Center Stage Atlanta is a humming location in the heart of Midtown, boasting three different venues in one. The Theater with national and local acts; The Loft, equipped with four full-service bars and a stunning view of the Midtown skyline; and the intimate Vinyl, selected for "Best Live Music" on AOL's 2010 Atlanta's Best List. Check out their gig list closer to the time to see what’s on.
Fun-seekers in the market for jokes would be wise to try out the Laughing Skull Lounge, voted the best comedy club in Atlanta. It’s situated at the back of the Vortex Bar & Grill on Peachtree Street, a heaving local bar that boasts great burgers and a late licence, and was once featured on “Man vs Food” (Man won). A wacky and fun venue not to be missed!
Other Midtown bars worthy of note include: Park Tavern, which serves knockout cocktails and great views of Piedmont Park; McCray’s Tavern, which peddles a fine line in craft beer and bar food; Establishment, long been considered the place to see and be seen; and Blake’s on The Park, a gay bar that’s known to put on some absolutely fabulous drag nights.
If dancing is your thing, you’ll find three dance floors waiting for you at Lava Lounge - “Midtown Atlanta’s Hottest Nightclub” – but be warned, they have an unusually strict dress code that stretches a little further than just “no sneakers”. Think “smart casual” and you should be fine.
Time to get your groove on ITW 2019!
