Jamil Koussa leads the Global Fiber and Subsea team at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he is responsible for all backbone and metro fiber infrastructure planning, business development and procurement across APAC and EMEA, as well as AWS's global subsea cable program.

With 20 years of experience in telecommunications, Jamil has worked across the full spectrum of network development — from hands-on planning, building, sales, and procurement to managing large, cross-functional teams. At AWS, he began as an individual contributor, planning and delivering network infrastructure with a deep focus on the Middle East and Africa. He then took on responsibility for the EMEAI backbone before stepping into his current role leading the Global Fiber and Subsea team.

Prior to AWS, Jamil held roles at Orange and Omantel, where he was involved in building both terrestrial and submarine networks. At Omantel, he also led the wholesale sales team and played a key role in the landing of the AAE-1 cable in Marseille. He has served as Management Committee Chairman on several international cable systems.

Jamil holds a Bachelor's degree in Telecom Engineering, a Master's in European Business, and a Master's in Geopolitics and International Relations.
