How important is SDN for the industry and what is your company doing to implement and deploy this technology capability?
IPtelX has been ahead of the curve on SDN. Our affiliated group has been developing software solutions for the alarm and security industries for over 30 years. IPtelX was pioneered on providing mission-critical telecom services to these types of companies and has a wealth of software that monitors and controls it's entire network which is fully built on virtualized technology.

What are new developments and initiatives that are exciting for your company in 2018?
We've recently established local number redundancy on our network throughout most areas of the United States, involving secondary interconnections at the tandem level that does not touch our primary network. Most carriers are not able to offer this type of redundancy without going through an inter-company port that could take hours or days. We've engineered our redundancy to reach beyond our own network and establish multiple routes for our numbers at every switch of the telecom network. From a sales perspective, we've decided to eliminate any charges for issuing and maintaining phone numbers to our clients, in addition to paying our clients access revenue for their calls.

What technologies or solutions inhibiting growth today and how do you see innovation adapting to solve that problem?
I think much of the legacy TDM network that still remains in the PSTN today is a hold back in evolving to a world of all IP communication. In our case, we carry a very large amount of alarm signal traffic which is generally regarded as requiring a TDM network. These are signal calls reporting fire, burglar, store opens and closes to our clients who are the security companies. However, in an interest to be innovative and keep with the industry trends, we designed our network to be fully compatible with alarm traffic and other legacy modem type traffic, using all IP based communication in and out of our network.

Why is ITW such an important industry event for you and your company?
The ITW event has been a great opportunity for our company to network with customers and vendors at an international level. As a leading provider of mission-critical and cost-efficient telecom services, ITW has been a great venue for us to grow our brand in the market place.
