2:10pm – 2:55pm: PANEL: HYBRID TRANSFORMATIONS – EXPERIENCES WITH ADOPTING SD-WAN AND INTEGRATING INTERNET INTO THE WAN

While it has been on many enterprise WAN Manager’s horizons for the past few years, SD-WAN has begun to reach a stage where large multinationals have deployed SD-WAN on some or all of their global network. This session will review experiences with rolling out SD-WAN and discuss what changes it has lead to in network management.

  • What are the impacts on overall WAN spend?
  • How has SD-WAN affected the in house knowledge of IT teams? Do branch office techs now need to take crash courses in SD-WAN?
  • What specific metrics does SD-WAN offer and what new visibility into the network has it offered?
  • What are some specific applications of VNFs that WAN Managers have utilized after roll out?
  • What was the cost impact of deploying an SD-WAN solution? How much do enterprises save in the long term after that initial investment?
  • Was there a requirement to rip and replace current infrastructure, if so, did this fall into EOL, KEC (keep environment current)?

3:50pm – 4:30pm: PANEL: CLOUD IN THE WAN – HOW TO ADAPT YOUR WAN TO ACCOMMODATE CLOUD-BASED APPLICATIONS

As corporate computing is increasingly shifting to the cloud, WAN managers ensure that the network can accommodate the resulting shifts in traffic. The geography and technology of the network is intertwined with the location of corporate data centers, neutral colocation facilities, and cloud service provider presence. This panel will highlight issues and experiences with adapting network strategy to meet the new demands that cloud services present for the WAN.

  • How are most enterprises connecting to cloud providers and should this change going forward? Are there different strategies for connecting to multiple cloud providers?
  • What implications do cloud services pose for clear security standards and logical architectures?
    • What specific methods do you use to secure this new cloud environment?
  • How does adoption of cloud services impact the choice of branch office connectivity? What is the impact on major hub sites?
  • How can enterprises design their network to ensure performance of applications that are being accessed remotely? How do you delineate responsibility for performance assurance between the network provider and cloud service provider?
  • What are the costs and network factors enterprises should consider when moving an application to the cloud?
  • How does cloud provider geography affect network design?
